Another Update!

Hey guys, there won't be a match this saturday due to quite a number of players being unavailable. So have a good rest, stay fit and be prepared for our first league game next saturday! Also, on the 21st August we won't have a game because some of us will be particapating in a charity street soccer tournament. Those who are interested please let me know Asap. If there are sufficient number of players interested we can send 2 teams. Cheers! =)

Jersey and League Update

Hey guys, we will be joining the D2D Amateur Saturday 5pm league which starts next saturday (7th August). Visit www.footballopod.com to have a look if you want. Although the league will be slightly more competitive as compared to friendlies, but we will still have the same approach as our first few games - have fun as friends, improve individually and as a team. All former and current hall 4 ppl are welcome!

As for the new jersey, for those who don't already know, it is blue ( yes blue again, what else.. ) with the team logo printed in front and team name and number behind. Will probably cost about $20 for the adidas top and printing, not getting shorts and socks. So revert your size, 5 preferred numbers you want to appear on the jersey to hong ming by this wednesday! WAGS ( Wives and Girlfriends) are also invited to buy one! So don't miss out on it.. while stocks lasts. =)

Saturday League Jersey Ordering

Hi all, please revert the jersey size and numbering to Hongming asap.

Our league is starting soon!

Thanks! =D

H4 United 2 Jotos FC 3

The pre-match worries that we would have insufficient players were uncalled for as there was a healthy turn up of 17 players. Alex came out of retirement to start in goal and Zhiyang, James, Jiesheng and David started as the back 4, with Collin Daniel Chun Xiang and guest John starting in midfield. Jevon and Zhongliang started in attack, with James seemingly giving in to Jevon's whining to play him as striker. Hongming, Kelson, Jiahong, Vinson, Eddy and Ken Boo started on the bench.

We started the match well and dominated the game. Daniel, Collin and John were pulling the strings in the midfield, the back 4 looked solid and the strikers looked lively and hungry for goals too. The first 20 minutes was a joy to watch as H4 strung together many passes, with the highlight being 5 or 6 one touch passes to pass the ball out from defence to attack. From that good bit of play, Collin crossed the ball from the left with the outside of his right foot for Chun Xiang to tap in. A deserved lead for H4! However, as the game wore on, Jotos fought back and started stringing together passes of their own. They had a couple of long range shots which failed to trouble Alex in goal. However, against the run of play, Jotos scored 2 'weird' goals to go into half time with the lead. The first was when Alex thought we were awarded a free kick for offside when the referee had allowed play to carry on. The Jotos striker happily tapped the ball into the unguarded net. Even they did not celebrate that one. The second goal they scored was when a mix-up between Alex and David at the back again resulted in a soft goal for Jotos. Despite going into HT behind, James was pleased with the overall play and he again emphasized the importance of our good passing play rather than the scoreline. The 2nd half commenced with the match very much up for grabs with both teams playing good passing football. Jevon won a penalty from a swift counter attack after he was barged off the ball from behind when through on goal. Regular penalty taker for H4, James, stepped up to coolly slam home the equaliser with the help of the crossbar. A few minutes later from a corner, James almost had his second of the day. However he was unable to connect with the ball cleanly after it fell to him unmarked. From the resulting drop kick from Jotos' keeper, they scored when our defenders misjudged the flight of the ball, thus allowing the Jotos striker to get through on goal to score. After that, there were chances for both teams as we continued our good passing football. Hong Ming had 2 absolute sitters which he somehow missed. Despite the loss, there were alot of positives to take out of the game. The greatest one being our passing, impressing James so much that he commented 'this is the best game Hall 4 has ever played!'. The other positives being having 2 decent keepers to rely on and the subs doing well when they came on. Let's learn from our mistakes this game and continue the good passing game we played today! 1, 2, 3, 4.. HALL 4!

Thanks to the supporters for coming too! ( Jieying, Yan Yin and Yi Xuan) Although they didn't exactly use pom poms to cheer for us or something, but we still appreciate your presence and for being 'water-girls' =) A big thank you goes out to John for coming down too as James thought there would be insufficient players.

Match Day 2

17th July 2010 5pm (Temasek Secondary School)
Hall 4 0 - 4 Tititoto (donno whats their exact name =p)

Today's turn out was very good, there were more than enough substitution to go around for the entire match. The first lost of the team for us and it was never easy especially conceding so many goals. The opponent was very good with passing and maintaining possession and that proves difficult for our team to cope with throughout the 90 mins.

First goal came early for us as the opponent cut out a pass from Daniel in the middle of the field to deliver a thru ball for the striker which Yonghwa could not stop the striker from slotting home the goal. Second goal was from a corner as the defense was caught napping when the opponent had a free header to the top right of the goal. An individual mistake by James as his back pass was intercepted by the opponent gave them the third goal. The last goal was from a shot from outside the box where the Vinson could only parry and the follow up was like a nail to our coffin.

There is still a long way to go and i believe we will only get better and stronger!

First Match together again after so long!

10 July 2010 5pm (Hua Yi Secondary School)
Hall 4 1 - 0 Exxon (Jurong Island Chemical)

It has been raining the entire morning and we were so afraid that the match would be canceled. Luckily the rain stopped just before the start of the match and the referee gave the green light to go ahead.

James had to play in goal as no keeper was available on the match day so Yonghwa had to partner JieSheng in the centre defense.

Today's opponent was from ExxonMobil Jurong Island Chemical Plant. We had quite a good control of the game for the first 15-20 mins but there after kind of lose momentum and kept giving away easy balls to the opponent.

Fortunately, a set piece corner delivered by Jevon met the head of Yonghwa to provide our team with an early lead in the game. The goal proof vital as the game ended with Hall 4 wining 1-0 over our opponent. The goal looks similar to the Puyol header that gave Spain the victory over Germany thus the man of the match goes to Yonghwa!

The team looks in good shape as we look forward for the next match in the coming Saturday.
